1. The Veil: It comes from the head
The veil is a hair accessory.
Where is it attached? It is fixed in the hair (often with a comb), above a bun, or placed on top of the head.
Its unique feature: It can be pulled over the bride's face at the beginning of the ceremony (it is then called a "blusher" veil) before being lifted back.
When? It is usually removed after the ceremony or at the beginning of the evening to allow for free dancing.

2. The Train: It comes from the dress
The train is an integral part of the dress (or attaches to it). It is the extension of the skirt fabric that sweeps the floor behind the bride as she walks.
Where is it attached? It starts from the waist, hips, or sometimes shoulders (then called a "cape train").
Its unique feature: It never touches the hair or face. It is designed to be dragged on the ground (hence its name).
When? Since it cannot be removed (unless it is detachable), dresses often have a discreet attachment system (a button or a cord) to "bustle the train" during the celebration so as not to step on it.
In summary: If the fabric comes from the hair, it's a veil. If it comes from the back or buttocks and glides on the ground, it's a train. And the ultimate traditional bridal look is often to wear both at the same time!
